Canada's Premier Student Run Finance Conference
Letter from the Co-Chairs
Last year, the seventh annual Queen’s Finance Association Conference (QFAC) was held in downtown Toronto at the Fairmont Royal York Hotel in November. The generous support from our dedicated partners and inspirational speakers allowed us to present a unique experience for our delegates. This year, we will continue to raise the bar and set the standard for student-run conferences not only at Queen’s, but across the country. QFAC has most certainly made history: it was the first student-run, finance-specific conference in Canada and the first conference from the Queen’s School of Business (QSB) to be held in Toronto. We strive to be unique. Last year, we once again broke sponsorship records for conferences organized by Queen’s. In 2013 we furthered our global presence by welcoming international delegates for the second year in a row and through our second annual New York City Stock Pitch Competition. The six finalists of the competition were flown to New York City to present their pitch to a panel of renowned industry professionals. We hosted interactive events such as our real-time stock simulation and our Day-on-Bay networking sessions to provide our delegates with a hands-on experience and knowledge about the industry. We held a taster prior to the conference, enjoyed five star dinners, an unforgettable brunch, and our keynote and workshop speakers were both inspirational and informative. Our corporate partners represent the leaders of the finance industry. There is no question that all of our stakeholders received extraordinary value from their participation in QFAC 2013. Each and every year, we go beyond expectations to be the best and 2014 will be no different.
We will continue to offer each delegate a remarkable learning experience, while at the same time ensuring our partners have maximum involvement and exposure to the top finance students from universities across Canada and the United States. Our mission is twofold: bridge the gap between the classroom and the real world of finance, and be regarded as the networking opportunity of the year. Moving forward, we are ready to expand our scope and will offer even greater value to our delegates and partners.
Whether as a delegate, sponsor, speaker, or alumni we look forward to your involvement in QFAC 2014; we have many exciting prospects in store.
