Jean-François (J-F) Courville, CFA
President and Chief Executive Officer
MFC Global Investment Management
J-F Courville is President and Chief Executive Officer of MFC Global Investment Management, the asset management arm of the Manulife Financial Corporation responsible for managing more than $100 billion in client funds. Mr. Courville who joined in 2007, is responsible for growing MFC Global Investment Management’s institutional and sub-advisory investment management businesses in North America, Japan, Asia and the U.K., as well as expanding investment management services to Manulife Financial’s own wealth management businesses globally.
Mr. Courville joined Manulife after 11 years at State Street Corporation where he held several financial trading and research positions in Montreal, Toronto and Boston. His most recent position was President and Chief Executive Officer of State Street Canada, overseeing the organization’s asset servicing, asset management, and trading and research activities.
Mr. Courville also previously held currency trading and strategist positions with the National Bank of Canada, in Montreal and London, U.K.
Mr. Courville serves as advisor or director for several non-profit organizations such as the Powerplant Art Gallery, Habitat for Humanity Toronto and the Advisory Board of the Desautels Faculty of Management at McGill University. Mr. Courville holds a B.Com in Finance and International Business from McGill University in Montreal and has a CFA designation.
In 2000, Mr. Courville was awarded Quebec’s Arista Young Manager of the Year by the Jeune Chambre de Commerce de Montréal. In 2006, Mr. Courville was named to the list of Canada’s Top 40 Under 40TM.

Michelle Khalili

Ms. Khalili is a Managing Director of CIBC in the Equity Capital Markets group with responsibility for the firm’s origination and execution of equity transactions. Michelle has significant equity financing experience having worked a number of income trust and corporate issue transactions such as Yellow Pages, Harvest Energy, InterPipeline, Breaker Energy, Crescent Point, TriStar, Newalta, Petro-Canada, Fortis and Shoppers Drug Mart.
Michelle joined CIBC World Markets in the Equity Capital Markets group in April 2000. Prior to joining CIBC World Markets she was with the Investment Banking group at another investment dealer. In addition, Michelle worked in the Corporate Finance and Audit groups of PricewaterhouseCoopers. Michelle holds a Bachelor of Commerce with distinction from the University of Toronto as well as Chartered Accountant and Chartered Financial Analyst designations. Michelle is currently a Director of the Investment Industry Regulatory Organization of Canada.

Robert M. Fotheringham, CGA

Robert Fotheringham currently serves as the Senior
Vice President, Trading, with TMX Markets, a
division of TMX Inc. His responsibilities include
Trading, Product Development, Product
Management, Canadian Sales, U.S. Sales, Derivatives
and Structured Products.
Mr. Fotheringham’s Trading Group responsibilities
extend the mandate that he first accepted after
joining TMX in 2005. Serving as the Vice President,
Structured and Derivative Products, his
responsibilities included the design, development and
execution of TMX Inc.’s full derivative market strategy.
Prior to joining TMX Inc. Mr. Fotheringham served as
the Vice President, Derivative and Quantitative
Investments, with the Ontario Municipal Employees
Retirement System. The notional value of the
derivative portfolio under his management exceeded
$6.0 billion. Cash quantitative based portfolio assets
exceeded $3.0 billion. Mr. Fotheringham sat as a
senior member of OMERS’ Investment Management
Committee and Global Tactical Asset Allocation
Committee, where he assisted in the development of
the Fund’s asset allocation strategies and risk
management initiatives.
Prior to joining OMERS, Mr. Fotheringham served
as the Director – Senior Portfolio Manager for the
Regional Municipality of Hamilton-Wentworth.
He sat as a senior member of the Region’s Investment
Strategy Committee.
Mr. Fotheringham is a professional accountant,
holding the Certified General Accountant’s
designation.

Doug Guzman

Doug Guzman is head of Global Investment Banking of RBC Capital Markets. He is responsible for the leadership of the firms Industry, Regional and Sponsor Coverage teams, Mergers and Acquisitions as well as Structured Products in Canada, Europe and Asia. His responsibilities also include our US GIB activities, our equity capital markets globally and senior client coverage of a number of RBC Capital Markets' large cap clients. Doug chairs the Canadian Investment Banking Management Committee and is a member of the firm's Operating Committee, the Global Investment Banking and Equity Markets Operating Committee and the Commitments Committee. Doug has led client transactions involving mergers and acquisitions, debt and equity financings and restructurings in the U.S., Canada and Europe. Before joining RBC, Doug was a Managing Director at Goldman Sachs in New York and Toronto, where he had overall responsibility for their Global Metals and Mining business and their Canadian Investment Banking business. Doug has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Honors Business Administration from the University of Western Ontario and an MBA with high distinction (Baker Scholar) from Harvard Business School.

Mark Wiseman

Mark is responsible for leading private equity and infrastructure investments in the CPP portfolio.
Prior to joining the CPP Investment Board in June 2005, Mark led the private equity fund and co-investment program at the Ontario Teachers' Pension Plan. He was also vice-president at the private equity firm Harrowston Inc. and spent several years as a corporate lawyer with Sullivan & Cromwell practicing in New York and Paris.
Mark holds his MBA and law degrees from the University of Toronto and was a Fulbright Scholar at Yale University where he earned his master's degree in law.

Barbara Palk

Barbara Palk is President of
TD Asset Management Inc. and Senior Vice President,
TD Bank Financial Group. After a decade of investment experience at two leading investment dealers, she joined TD in 1990 to create and build the institutional investment management business. She currently oversees over $175 billion in assets in TDAM’s investment management businesses.
Barbara was honoured as a recipient of the Ontario volunteer Award. She has served as a director of Unicef Canada, a director of CanStage, Secretary-Treasurer, director of the Investment Counselling Association of Canada, and as a member of the Council of Examiners for The CFA Institute. Currently, she is President of The Ticker Club, Vice Chair of the Queen’s University Investment Committee, is a member of the Finance Committee and a member of the Board of Trustees for Queen’s University, member of the Boards of The Shaw Festival, Canadian Coalition for Good Governance and Greenwood College School. She is a member of the Toronto Society of Financial Analysts.
Ms. Palk received an Honours Bachelor of Arts Economics degree from Queen’s University, is a Fellow of the Canadian Securities Institute and a CFA Charterholder.

Mark Usher

Mark's career began in 1988 at Royal Bank. He joined RBC's Commercial Banking Group in 1993, and his roles have included marketing and strategy in the bank's head office, and senior account manager in the bank's high tech banking group. Mark then was recruited by Cisco Systems in 2000 to join Cisco Capital's structured finance team in Toronto where he financed the sales of Cisco equipment and services to sub-investment grade customers using a combination of debt and equity structures. Geographic responsibilities for financings included Canada and the US Eastern Seaboard. Mark returned to Royal Bank in 2001 to lead the bank's Information Technology Banking team in the Greater Toronto Area. In Mark's last role at RBC, he was the executive responsible for RBC's entire Knowledge Based Industries practice in the Ontario marketplace in addition to the Toronto Tech Banking Group. Mark has his MBA from Queen's University and is involved in a number of technology associations.

Nancy Macgirr

Nancy MacGirr rejoined EDC in 2006 as a Relationship Manager with the Canadian Financial Intermediaries Group. As a Strategic Account Executive she has primary relationship responsibilities for two major Canadian banks as well as an impact with several major international banks. She had previously been with EDC as the Manager, Corporate Banking in the Cash Management area. Prior to rejoining EDC Ms. MacGirr worked with Scotiabank in Strategic Payments Policy and has also worked with extensively with CIBC, most recently as Community Manager responsible for a team of branches in Ottawa. Ms. MacGirr has attended Carleton University, and most recently obtained the Certified Human Resource Professional (CHRP) designation. She is also a Fellow of the Institute of Canadian Bankers. EDC is Canada’s export credit agency, offering innovative commercial solutions to help Canadian exporters and investors expand their international business. EDC’s knowledge and partnerships are used by more than 8,300 Canadian companies and their global customers in up to 200 markets worldwide each year. Paul Ferley

A graduate of Queen’s University and the University of Manitoba, Paul recently joined the Economics Department of RBC in 2007 after working for twenty years at another major financial institution where he was responsible for generating the macroeconomic outlook for the United States, Canada and Canadian regional economies. Paul started his professional career as an economist in the Research Department at the Bank of Canada.
Paul is a member of the Economic Policy Committee of the Canadian Chamber of Commerce and former member on the Editorial Board of Canadian Public Policy/Analyse de politiques. Paul is also Past President and Director of the Toronto Association of Business and Economics (TABE).

Eric Plesman joined Morgan Stanley as an Analyst in London, UK in 2000. Following seven years in the real estate principal and advisory sides of the business in both London and New York, Eric moved back to Canada in 2007. He is responsible for clients in the infrastructure (transportation), industrials, real estate and private equity industries. Eric has been involved in over $20Bn in transactions across products including M&A, debt and equity. Before joining Morgan Stanley, Eric worked at Arthur Andersen as a Consultant and as a Brand Manager at Nestle in Amsterdam, Netherlands. Eric has Bachelor of Arts degrees in both Administrative and Commercial Studies (Financial Economics) and an Honors Business Administration from the University of Western Ontario.
